Healthcare & Hospitals

The drive for digitalization improves workflow efficiency, enhances the accuracy of communications, mitigates risk and upgrades patient experience.

However, some aspects of patient/clinician communication in hospitals still relies on manually updated whiteboards and door information cards, increasing the workload of nurses and clinicians, and increasing the risk of errors, or outdated information.

There is a new solution coming to market in the United States that allows hospitals to bring digital signage into the 21st century, without taking a step back with light pollution: Signs made with E Ink Digital Paper instead of typical TV screen LCD technology. Unlike LCD, screens made with digital paper do not emit light, allowing patients to have uninterrupted sleep.

PATIENT COMMUNICATION BOARD

As with the Patient Room Door Sign and Patient Care Sign, the Patient Communication Board can connect to a hospital or facility's EHR / EMR system so updates can be pushed in real-time.

This Board sits in the patient's room and is design to be a communication portal between the patient, their care team and their family and friends.

The Board can show the patient’s daily schedule and will update real-time when the schedule changes, so patient and family are always informed, and the patient's care team can confirm the next step in the patient's care.

The Board can be multi-lingual: patients can choose to see information in their native language, improving communications and medical safety.

Additional options:

  • Collect the patient’s pain level feedback at anytime
  • Show date, weather and related information to help the patient feel connected with the outside world
  • Show the patient's discharge information so the patient and family know the schedule and can prepare
  • Show detailed information related to the medicine and treatment the patient is receiving
  • Show messages from the patient's family, which can be logged into the EHR / EMR system
  • During an emergency, the Board can switch to show critical messages or evacuation procedures, which can remain on the board even during a power outage

Key Points:

  • Digital Paper does not emit any light and the Board will not disturb patient’s rest or sleep
  • Since the Board is connected to the EHR / EMR system, care teams do not need to update it manually multiple times a day, both improving workflow and allowing the care team to focus on the patient rather than administrative tasks
  • No complex menus to navigation - the Board is always on, even during power outages, and are easy to read from all angles
  • The Board is lightweight, allowing for easy installation on a simple bracket
  • The Board consumes considerably less power than LCD devices and fits into a facility's sustainability efforts
